The waiting.
"For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken."(Psalms 62:1-2)
Silence. Waiting. Neediness. He seems to work in themes patiently bearing in love, drawing with chords of kindness not surprised by the messiness but instead using it to transform, to restore. Most of life involves waiting. Abraham waited for God's promise of a son. The Israelites waited 400 yrs to be delivered from Egypt. 40 years to enter the Promise Land. Along with countless accounts of His people waiting for His promise to be fulfilled. Never in the time frame demanded or expected.
In the waiting, they saw His faithfulness. In the waiting, they were reminded of his steadfast love. In the waiting, they were being transformed.
In the waiting, he teaches, he molds. He strengthens. Wait and take courage. For even youths shall grow weary and faint but those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Waiting renews strength. But waiting is hard.. because you have no control. well not that you did in the first place but waiting makes you feel it even more. In this waiting, He draws us in. We press into know him.
The call came. Unexpected news that would make me feel my helplessness. Aching to breathe for her. Wanting to give relief but there was nothing to be done. Waiting continues, with no answers. Wait.
And so, outside, flint face desiring to make things normal because they said "you're the rock right now." Inside, card house waiting to be blown over.
Words spoken. Heart pricked.Oil poured out. Card house blown and flood gates open. I am not the rock, not made of stone. He alone is my Rock and my salvation. Oh let me hide myself in thee for
"The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." (Exodus 14:14)
So Praise Him for your season of waiting (however hard that may be)!

5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
8 Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
